- W arykule przedstawiono najważniejsze oraz aktualne również dla polskiej statystyki tematy poruszone podczas pierwszego Światowego Forum w sprawie statystyki, które w Palermo, w listopadzie 2004 roku zorganizowała OECD. Autorzy dzielą się refleksjami z obrad, w których wzięło udział 530 uczestników z 44 krajów, i zaprezentowano 150 referatów. W artykule przedstawiono te sprawy, które mogą mieć istotne znaczenie dla rozwoju naszej statystyki oraz współpracy służb statystyki publicznej w Polsce z organizacjami międzynarodowymi, w tym także z OECD. Do takich tematów zaliczono: 1) problemy tworzenia spójnego systemu wskaźników, 2) niektóre problemy statystyki gospodarczej, 3) statystykę społeczną, 4) statystykę regionalną.
