- Decyzje podjęte przez Radę Ministrów w Nicei (grudzień 2000), dotyczyły reform instytucjonalnych i prawnych, istotnych dla skutecznego funkcjonowania rozszerzonej UE, w skład której zostaną przyjęte kraje Europy Środkowej oraz Cypr i Malta. W artykule omówiono podstawowe decyzje Rady Europejskiej w Nicei, oraz przedstawiono perspektywy ich wpływu na negocjacje akcesyjne Polski z Unią, oraz na realizację naszych interesów w ramach członkostwa w integracji europejskiej.
The decisions taken by the Council of Ministers at the Nice summit in December 2000 were concerned, first of all, with the institutional and legal reforms essential for the efficient functioning of an enlarged EU that would admit the Central and East European states as well as Cyprus and Malta. The new regulations concerned the size and composition of the European Parliament and the European Commission, the weighting of qualified majority votes in the Council of Ministers and extension of the principle of qualified majority voting in the decision-making processes of the Council. These will be important during Poland`s EU accession negotiations and for its future place and role in an EU that will set the country very real challenges. (original abstract) - Accessibility
