Abstract
Artykuł prezentuje część belgijską badań w ramach projektu "Social stratification in food consumption in Poland and Belgium ", w którym biorą udział Gent oraz SGGW. Ankietę w 2005 roku wypełniło 78 osób z grupy niskiego uposażenia w Gent. Ankieta składa się z czterech części: zachowania konsumenckie, aktywność fizyczna i ocena stanu zdrowia, częstotliwość konsumpcji oraz 24-godzinne spożycie produktów spożywczych. Dane analizowano między grupami BMI. Wyniki wskazują, że osoby z nadwagą spożywają okolo 300 kcal więcej dziennie niż osoby mające prawidłową masę ciała. Wyższe BMI odpowiada mniejszej aktywności fizycznej oraz korzystaniu z subwencjowanych posiłków. W dziennej diecie ludzi otyłych zauważono wysoki poziom sodu i miedzi oraz niedobór wapnia, magnezu, witaminy B2 i witaminy C.

The paper reports part of research related to the project "Social Stratification in Food Consumption in Poland and Belgium" within BOF programme of UGent in Belgium. A survey of the low-income group was implemented in 2005 in Belgium. It consisted of four elements: Food Behaviour Survey (FBS), Physical Activity and Health Survey (PAHS), Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) and the 24 h Recall Method (24h RMX A three-step methodology was undertaken. First, the BMI was calculated for all respondents who were divided into four (and later two) groups. Second, relationships were calculated for all variables from FBS and PAHS between BMI groups. Third, relationships were calculated for variables about the frequency of foods/drinks consumption (FFQ) and the nutritional content of foods/drinks (24h RM) - calculated with the NUBEL programme. Results indicate that the overweight a"nd obese people consume about 300 kcal per day more than the normal weight people. A higher BMI is related to lower physical activity and dependency on social meals away from home. There is evidence about excessive intake of sodium and copper in the diet of the obese people. In the total sample of respondents, there is an intake deficiency of calcium, magnesium, vitamin B2 and vitamin C. (original abstract)
