Abstract
Celem artykułu jest zbadanie, jak pewne rozstrzygnięcia metodologiczne wpływają na pomiar nierówności, dobrobytu i ubóstwa. W szczególności przedstawiono wpływ założeń dotyczących statystycznej miary zasobności gospodarstw domowych (dochody lub wydatki), sposobu ważenia obserwacji, wyboru skali ekwiwalentności i poziomu awersji do nierówności.

The aim of the paper was to investigate how some methodological assumptions influence the measurement of inequality, poverty and welfare. The following assumption were checked: the statistical measure of household resources (income or expenditures), the weighting of observations, the equivalence scale, and inequality aversion. The empirical verification of those assumptions was performed using statistical data from household budget surveys for Poland 1993 and 1999. It was turned out that the data in the form of expenditures provided more consistent results than incomes for Poland. Moreover, the choice of equivalence scale was more important for the estimation of the level of inequality and poverty than for intertemporal changes of those features. On the other hand, the equivalence scale and inequality aversion was decisive for the measurement of welfare and its changes over time. (original abstract)
