Abstract
Zwrócono uwagę na podstawowe problemy i kierunki zmian w zarządzaniu turystyką wiejską w Polsce. Omówiono doradztwo rolnicze i regionalne stowarzyszenia w procesach zarządzania tą turystyką oraz udział w zarządzaniu Polskiej Federacji Turystyki Wiejskiej. Na koniec przedstawiono wpływ administracji rządowej na zarządzanie turystyką wiejską.

Rural tourism in Poland has entered a new and difficult stage of its development. The stage of development of grounds for its operation, kindling the awareness among country people, mass training, and practical verification of knowledge and skill of service providers through market operation - is now followed by the stage of general improvement of quality of activities to meet the requirements of the highly competitive market of united Europe. Another area that calls for improvement is the system of managing rural tourism. This introductory paper is an attempt at the presentation of basic problems and directions of changes in the current system of managing rural tourism. It focuses especially on the processes of management of its major players: regional associations and Polska Federacja Turystyki Wiejskiej (Polish Federation of Rural Tourism), as well as agricultural consultants and the sectors responsible for the development of tourism and agriculture and rural areas. The author presents subjective conclusions and evaluations in this scope to the participants of the Jubilee Symposium for their joint verification and complementation - so as to proceed te-4he development of assumptions for the strategy of rural tourism management that would increase the competitive edge of rural tourism in the 21st-century tourist market.
