- W artykule omówiono różne koncepcje odnoszące się do problemu społecznych kosztów monopolu oraz ekonomiczne teorie regulacji, próbujące wyjaśniać rzeczywiste mechanizmy i skutki ingerencji państwa w procesy rynkowe. Przedstawiono również analizę procesów transformacji w Polsce oraz przyczyny ujawniających się w jej trakcie negatywnych zjawisk.
In the paper social costs of the lack of competition in economic, political and social sphere are analysed. There were used the analytic tools created within different schools of modern economics, especially the Chicago school, the new institutional economics and the theory of public choice. It was indicated that monopoly in the economic sphere causes social losses because of an incorrect allocation of resources and a growth of inequalities in distribution of incomes, while monopoly in the political sphere results in a subordination of public institutions to narrow pressure groups at the expense of interests of the economic and social sphere, in contrary to the deep-seated in the consciousness of substantial part of society view, are not the result of transforming Polish economy into market but of subnormal market, understood as free competition in all fields of economic, political and social life. This subnormality is caused by excessive and improper interference of government that stunts the development of institutions indispensable for efficiently functioning market with the goal of redistribution of incomes to the narrow groups of interests at the expense of the getting poorer society. This system generates enormous social losses appearing for example in stunting an economic growth and increasing social inequalities. (original abstract) - Accessibility
