- W artykule omówiono najważniejsze problemy polskiej gospodarki, takie jak: bezrobocie, tempo wzrostu gospodarczego oraz deficyt budżetowy. Przedstawiono bariery wpływające na wzrost popytu, a w konsekwencji wpływające na tempo wzrostu gospodarczego. Opisano również problem rozwarstwienia społeczeństwa.
For the market mechanism understood as an economic system to function properly, it requires that which is defined on the political level as a citizens' society. Consequently, one can say that this system consists in the area of all kinds of freedoms being as large as possible and in as great a number as possible of entities in the sys tern using the available freedoms to as broad an extent as possible. The analysis of inducing consumers' demand in Poland does not allow an optimistic assessment of its growth. At the present stage, major barriers to increasing demand include: claim attitudes of the greater part of society, a large percentage of those employed in agriculture with its simultaneous low productivity, the high level of unemployment and its growing rate, and the absence of institutions pursuing a flexible credit policy. Other factors that adversely affect the volume of demand are: a high percentage of pensioners receiving transfers often below the social minimum or even subsistence level, low demand among town inhabitants living in small apartments m the city centre or in so-called new housing quarters, and the fact that the middle and upper classes are not very numerous or well-off. and do not significantly impact a rise in demand or the spread of a model of higher consumption. These social and economic phenomena, adversely affecting the development of demand volume and, consequently, economic growth, constitute important and difficult problems of the Polish economy, currently and in the future. The social and economic marginalization of such a large part of Polish society not only lowers efficiency of the whole economy but it also poses a huge threat to its stability.
