Abstract
(fragment tekstu)

"Too big to fail" is a notion to refer either to the problem of corporate finance, debate on the role of state interventionism or the area of financial market regulation. The companies of the discussed category, though deprived of state guarantees in explicite, dispose of such significant elements of impact on the state apparatus, that it is not able to apply free trade classical mechanisms in relation to them, including full bankruptcy. Abandoning the rules of free competition bears the risk of irresponsible corporate policy based on a peculiar calculation that the state is sure to come to the rescue. The thesis of the present study is the necessity of more effective limitation of this temptation based on the economy where dilemmas connected with statism in the period of the present crisis were most acute, i.e. in the United States. Irrespective of the American perspective presented here, most of the conclusions are universal to refer to other economic systems, including Poland. (original abstract)
