- Omówiono problem rynku eurowalutowego oraz jego możliwości kreowania pieniądza. Niektórzy ekonomiści twierdzą, że rynek ten ma zdolność mnożnikowej kreacji pieniądza. Inni jednak są zdania, że banki działające na rynku eurowalutowym należy traktować jako instytucje typu para-bankowego służce jedynie pośrednictwu finansowemu, których zadaniem jest przesuwanie czasowo wolnych funduszy od pierwotnych kredytodawców do ostatecznych kredytobiorców. W artykule wykazano słuszność tez drugiej z omawianych grup ekonomistów.
The aim of the article is to discuss the controversial problem of whether the eurocurrency market is able to create money in the multiplicative manner or not. Some authors considering the problem reckon the eurobank's transactions to be of the same character as these of domestic banks, and by analogy argue that euromarket can create money. Others, however, are of the opinion that banks operating in the euromarket serve rather as financial intermediaries similarly to domestic saving and loan associations or other quasi-banks, and in connection with this cannot increase the quantity of money in circulation. The author of the paper, assuming that money is only the asset that can serve as means of payment, argues to be right those that consider the euromarket not to be able to create new money.
