- Artykuł niniejszy ma dwa konkretne, praktyczne cele na oku: Pierwszy cel ma charakter ogólniejszy. Jak wykazuje pobieżna ocena krytyczna kilkunastu prac polskich o owcach, podana we wstępie, znajdujemy w nich dużą ilość braków czy błędów (z punktu widzenia zasad statystyki) w sposobie zbierania materiału, jego opisu i opracowania. Pierwsze więc zadanie tego artykułu polega na możliwie przystępnym przedstawieniu poprawnego wyboru materiału badawczego: ta część jest zastosowaniem znanych zasad metody reprezentacyjnej do specjalnego materiału, jaki stanowi pogłowie owiec bądź zbiorowość ich włosów. Cel drugi jest bardziej specjalny. Dotychczas bowiem nie tylko nie opracowano jeszcze metod ustalania liczności próby owiec, badanych pod względem własności ich włosów, ale o ile wiadomo, nie było jeszcze w tym kierunku żadnych usiłowań czy prób. Otóż niniejszy artykuł miałby być pierwszą próbą w tym kierunku. (fragment tekstu)
In connection with the investigation on sheep with long woll-staples the author tends to explain the procedure of correct selection and determination of a representative test, in accordance with the principles resulting from the representative method. In the preamble, the author criticizes and appraises the manner in which empiric material had been hitherto collected and the inferences concluded in this basis. He then tries to render more concrete the object of investigation, be discusses the tentative collectivity and, finally, he describes and analyses the results. He therefore constructs, for the first time in Poland, tables presenting the numerosity of sheep and wool-staples. In his conclusions the author stresses the need of turning a greater attention to the scientific accuracy of investigation by the appliance of multistage drawing. (original abstract) - Accessibility
