Abstract

The article presents a review of the literature on the impact of the variables used in the analysis of economic growth with an emphasis placed on the role of infrastructure in economic growth. Based on the discussion, an empirical study was conducted in the tradition of "growth factors" to illustrate the existing relationship between infrastructure and economic growth. The results from the study show that increasing the level of infrastructure does not have a linear effect on economic growth and this effect manifests itself as an inverted parabola. While a minimum stock of infrastructure seems to be a necessary condition for development, further increases in its stock do not increase economic growth, as demonstrated in the empirical study.
