- Omówiono problematykę rozprzestrzeniania się nadużycia napojów alkoholowych w określonej populacji. Zanalizowano relację dwóch wybranych wskaźników alkoholizmu (przyjęcie do szpitala psychiatrycznego z rozpoznaniem psychozy alkoholowej i stopy śmiertelności na marskość wątroby) i spożycia alkoholu w przeliczeniu na jednego mieszkańca, populacji polskich kobiet i mężczyzn.
Alcohol abuse causes several negative health, economic and social consequences, whose prevalence should be evaluated. S. Ledermann theory of statistical correlation between per capita alcohol consumption and number of alcohol abusers creates a chance to estimate quickly the approximate level of the consequences of alcohol abuse. Taking into account the above theory and O.-J. Skog's observation that if an individual risk function between alcohol consumption and it's consequences (death for alcohol-related disease) could be regarded as a linear function, the death rate for the disease is a function of per capita alcohol consumption, those connections were investigated in the Polish male and female populations. On the basis of analysis of the relationships of two choosen alcoholism indicators (rates of alcoholic psychosis and rates of the liver cirrhosis mortality) and per capita alcohol consumption in the Polish male and female populations it was concluded that the relationships, in the taken into account period of time, were strong and positive, which gives foundation to estimate the alcoholism prevalence in Poland on the basis of per capita alcohol consumption.
