Abstract

Autor stawia sobie w artykule następujące pytania: Jak ludzie faktycznie działają? Jakie czynniki kształtują ludzkie działanie? Jak ludzie postrzegają swoje działanie? Do jakiego stopnia to, jak postrzegają oni swoje działanie, ma na nie wpływ? Jakie byłyby konsekwencje, gdyby ludzie działali dokładnie tak, jak sobie to wyobrażają. Starając się na nie odpowiedzieć, dochodzi w toku wywodu do następującej konkluzji: ludzkiego działania w kontekście ładu społecznego nie należy interpretować w kategoriach homeostazy lub jako prowadzącego do stanu równowagi. Działania wynikają z napięcia i mogą być zorientowane na jego łagodzenie, ale wynikowo prowadzą do przechodzenia od jednego rodzaju napięcia do innego. Nie tylko są wyładowaniem energii, lecz także jej wytwarzaniem. (abstrakt oryginalny)

In the article the author poses the following questions: How do people actually act? What factors influence human action? How do people perceive their own action? To what extent does the way they perceive their own actions influence such actions? What would be the consequences of people acting exactly as they think they did? In order to address those issues, in the course of his argumentation the author comes to the following conclusion: in a social context, human actions do not need to be considered as belonging in the category of homeostasis or as leading to a balance. The actions result from tension and their aim may be its alleviation, but they always lead to a transition from one form of tension to another. Not only do they defuse energy, they also produce it.
