Abstract
Celem niniejszych badań była próba identyfikacji metabolitów powstających w procesie biodegradacji przy użyciu wyizolowanych z osadu czynnego szczepów bakteryjnych, a także zbadanie ich zdolności biodegradacyjnych. Jako modelowy niejonowy surfaktant do badań wybrano polidyspersyjny oksyetylenowany alkohol CI2EI0 zawierający łańcuch dodecylowy oraz średnio 10 grup oksyetylenowych. (fragment tekstu)

Alcohol ethoxylates (AE) are easily biodegradable surfactants in contrast to oxyethylated alkylphenols or block copolymers. However, the massive stream of alcohol ethoxylates is directed into the sewage systems and to sewage treatment plants [1,2]. Here, the microorganisms in activated sludge are useful in biodégradation of AE. The aim of this research was to determine the biodégradation ability of Brevundimo- nas vesicularis strain and identify the metabolites formed in biodégradation process. For this purpose a model non-ionic surfactant C12E10 was taken. C12E10 is an ethoxylated dodecyl alcohol with an average number of 10 oxyethylene subunits. High performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray mass spectrometry was used for analysis (ULTIMATE 3000 by dionex with Q-TRAP 4000 AB SCIEX). Metabolites were detected using single-quadrupole positive ion scan mode. A mass spec trum obtained for surfactant C12E10 proved that the model surfactant is a complex mixture of compounds. In the course of experiment appearance of polyethylene glycols and alcohol ethoxylates with carboxyl group in site m end of the ethoxy chain was observed already on the third day of the test. During the biodégradation process the mixture of polydispersal alcohol ethoxylates undergoes enrichment to longer homologues as a result of fast biodégradation of homologues with short ethoxy chain.
