The global economy changes the basis of firm level competitive advantage. Such intangible assets as knowledge, competence and intellectual property are of fundamental importance for every enterprise to be utilised in the competitive environment. The paper treats an issue of cognizance in a process of decision making. First the main notions of the subject are defined, and then interdependence between information and cognizance is considered.
