- Polowanie na wieloryby, ze względu na surowce, które w ten sposób pozyskiwano, osiągnęło w pierwszej połowie XX wieku rozmiary, grożące zagładą tych zwierząt. Wiele gatunków już wyginęło, a te, które jeszcze żyją, chronione międzynarodowymi konwencjami, które ograniczają wolny dostęp do łowisk. Jednakże utrzymanie gatunku stwarza problemy ekonomiczne i prawne. (abstrakt oryginalny)
In the first half of 20th century the hunting of whales reached the level threatening extinction due to the materials derived from whales. Many species have already extinct, while the survivors are protected by international conventions that limit free access to hunting areas.
