Abstract

The process of globalization, accelerating heavily in last two decades of the XX century, has raised concerns about the adjustment of highly developed countries to new economic conditions mostly due to generous social expenses and broad interference of the state into economic sphere. However, many research projects show that countries, in which these policies prevail, seem to perform very well under these new circumstances and the allembracing role of the state is not an obstacle for their economic development and competitiveness.
