Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the role of design goods, which are not to be shown in public or private spaces. The research was conducted in 2009 among users of simple devices and managers of firms where they were employed. For the users the most important parameter of the product was the simplicity of usability and operational reliability (both parameters received average mark 4.5 in a five-point scale, where 1 is not important and 5 is the most important). The quality of materials used in production is an important factor for the users. The research showed that employees with longer working period give more attention to quality of materials. The design of a product determines its price. Over 44% of managers of firms covered by the research declared they are ready to pay from 6 to 10% more for products with better design.(original abstract)
