- Przeanalizowano zmiany w produkcji warzyw gruntowych i cebuli w Polsce w latach 1990-2004. Na podstawie tej analizy oceniono konkurencyjność potencjału produkcyjnego tego sektora w poszerzonej UE.(abstrakt oryginalny)
Since many years the cultivation of vegetables has been playing an important role in plant production in Poland, especially the cultivation of onions which is our leading export product. The main aim of this publication is the presentation of changes in onion production in Poland in the context of the data from the selected EU countries in the years 1990-2004, and indication of Polish production competitive potential on the market of the enlarged EU. Poland with the production level of 700 000 tons is the third producer (after Spain and Holland) on EU-25 market. Poland achieves such a high production in extensive way through large area but low crops which makes us in comparison with countries such as Spain and Holland not very competitive on European market. Nevertheless the rise of production intensity is observed. Only in Poland and Greece the rise of production is the result of rise in crops. However in Prance, Holland, Germany, Portugal and Great Britain extensive rise of production is the effect of rise of the cultivation area.(original abstract) - Accessibility
