Abstract
Konstytucyjne podstawy sprawowania rządów stanowią: a) Konstytucja Związku Australijskiego; b) konstytucje stanowe; c) ustawodawstwo stanowe i terytorialne; d) orzeczenia Sądu Najwyższego Australii; e) konwenanse konstytucyjne przyjęte na szczeblu federalnym, stanowym i terytorialnym.

The Westminster model in the Australian version features eight basic interdependent characteristics which help to keep political balance: a) the system is based on the individual freedom; b) it ensures the division between the church and the state; c) the parliament acts as the sovereign; d) The British monarch is the head of state; e) all citizens are obliged to respect the law adopted by the parliament; f) the judicial system is independent; g) there is power division into legislative, executive and judicial branches; h) state administration is free from pressure from the executives. The constitutional basis for governance comprise: a) The Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia; b) state constitutions; c) the state and territory legislation; d) the decisions of the Supreme Court of Australia; e) constitutional conventions adopted at the federal, state and territorial level.(original abstract)
