- Abstract
- Cel. Przedstawienie najważniejszych problemów oraz wniosków wynikających z dotychczasowych badań nad globalnymi łańcuchami wartości dotyczących sektora turystyki.
Metoda. Przegląd literatury przedmiotu oraz analiza najważniejszych międzynarodowych baz danych statystycznych.
Wyniki.
Ograniczenia badań i wnioskowania. Uwzględniono tylko prace znajdujące się w następujących bazach bibliograficznych i naukowych sieciach społecznościowych (Elsevier Science, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar, Mendeley, Web of Science, Research Gate) oraz raporty największych organizacji międzynarodowych (OECD, UNCTAD, UNWTO, World Bank), opublikowane w języku angielskim do sierpnia 2014 roku.
Implikacje praktyczne. Wskazanie kierunków dalszych badań oraz użyteczności analiz dotyczących turystyki i polityki turystycznej prowadzonych przez pryzmat globalnych łańcuchów wartości.
Oryginalność. W artykule zaprezentowano przegląd publikacji z ostatnich kilku lat oraz baz statystycznych upublicznionych w ostatnich trzech latach, łącząc perspektywę mikroi makroekonomiczną.
Rodzaj pracy. Praca ma charakter przeglądowy. (abstrakt oryginalny)
Purpose. To present conclusions from recent research on global value chains in tourism.
Method. Literature review and examination of the most important international statistical databases. Findings. The framework of global value chains seems not only adequate but in some cases also necessary to assess upgrading possibilities of local companies, regions and whole economies. Yet, its current application to tourism is rather fragmentary. Hence, intensified research in this area may be quite fruitful. Two paths of research seem particularly promising: work on structure, governance and upgrading trajectories in tourism global value chains in developed countries, and a deeper exploration of recently accessible international statistics on trade in value added in hotels, restaurants, and air transport.
Research and conclusion limitations. Only publications registered in Elsevier Science, EBSCOhost, Google Scholar, Mendeley, Web of Science and Research Gate, as well as reports of OECD, UNCTAD, UNWTO, and the World Bank, in English, up to August 2014 have been considered.
Practical implications. Indication of further research directions and the usefulness of analysis from the point of view of global value chains for tourism policy.
Originality. The paper reviews recent research in the field (including statistical databases made accessible during the last three years) and combines micro- and macroeconomic perspectives.
Type of paper. A review paper. (original abstract) - Accessibility
