Abstract
Artykuł podejmuje problematykę walki z ubóstwem i wykluczeniem społecznym w kontekście strategii Europa 2020. Celem pracy jest próba wyjaśnienia występującego wśród krajów członkowskich zróżnicowania w postępach w realizacji deklarowanych celów krajowych w tym zakresie. Wyniki analizy pokazują, że na zróżnicowanie to wpłynęły zarówno ogólny poziom rozwoju, jak i sytuacja wyjściowa w zakresie liczebności populacji zagrożonej ubóstwem i wykluczeniem społecznym w poszczególnych państwach, na które dodatkowo w różnym stopniu oraz zakresie nałożyły się negatywne skutki recesji gospodarczej.(abstrakt oryginalny)

The article focuses on EU's goal of combating poverty and social exclusion. There are significant differences between European Union Member States (EU MS) in their progress in the realization of national goals of Europe 2020 strategy. An attempt to explain this phenomenon was made. The analysis show that this variation among countries resulted from differences in general level of economic development as well as the initial percentage of the population at risk of poverty or social exclusion. This was further negatively impacted by the economic recession.(original abstract)
