Abstract
Celem pracy była ocena zawartości związków polifenolowych oraz aktywności przeciwutleniającej czterech handlowych kosmetycznych ekstraktów z nasion dostępnych na polskim rynku kosmetycznym: ostropestu plamistego (Silybum marianum), kasztanowca zwyczajnego (Aesculus hippocastanum), soi (Glycine soja) i owsa zwyczajnego (Avena sativa). Właściwości przeciwutleniające zbadano testem z rodnikiem DPPH oraz metodą TEAC. Zawartość związków polifenolowych różniła się znacznie między badanymi ekstraktami i mieściła się w granicach od 110,7 mg/L w ekstrakcie z nasion owsa zwyczajnego do 839,9 mg/L w ekstrakcie z nasion ostropestu plamistego. Zdolność do wygaszania rodnika DPPH, wyrażona jako parametr EC50, mieściła się w granicach od 1,35% dla ekstraktu z nasion owsa zwyczajnego do 0,52% dla ekstraktu z nasion ostropestu plamistego. Potencjał przeciwutleniający TEAC mieścił się w granicach od 0,72 mmol/L dla ekstraktu z nasion owsa zwyczajnego do 6,92 mmol/L dla ekstraktu z nasion ostropestu plamistego. Zaobserwowano istnienie wysokich korelacji między zawartością związków polifenolowych w badanych ekstraktach ich właściwościami przeciwutleniającymi wyrażonymi jako EC50 (r = 0,994) oraz TEAC (r = 0,992). Otrzymane wysokie korelacje wskazują na znaczący wpływ zawartości polifenoli w badanych ekstraktach z nasion na ich zdolność do wygaszania rodnika DPPH oraz ich potencjał przeciwutleniający TEAC. The aim of this work was to evaluate the total phenolic content and the antioxidant activity of four commercial seed extracts available on Polish cosmetics market: Silybum marianum (milk thistle), Aesculus hippocastanum (horse chestnut), Glycine soja (soybean) and Avena sativa (oat). DPPH radical scavenging activity and Trolox Equivalent Antioxidant Capacity (TEAC) assays were chosen to evaluate the antioxidant activity of extracts. The polyphenol content in extracts ranged from 110.7 mg/L in oat seed extract to 839.9 mg/L in milk thistle seed extract. DPPH radical scavenging activity, expressed as EC50 value, ranged from 1.35% for oat seed extract to 0.52% for milk thistle seed extract. Antioxidant activity, calculated a s TEAC values, r anged from 0 .72 mmol/L for oat seed extract to 6.92 mmol/L for milk thistle seed extract. High correlations between polyphenol content and antioxidant activity expressed as EC50 values (r = 0.994), and as TEAC values (r = 0.992) in seed extracts were observed. These correlations indicate that the scavenging radical activity and antioxidant activity of seed extracts significantly depend on their total phenolic content. (original abstract)
