Abstract
Cel artykułu: Celem artykułu jest określenie wpływu igrzysk olimpijskich na gospodarki: miasta organizującego imprezę, regionu oraz kraju. Poszukiwana jest odpowiedź na pytanie w jaki sposób owa impreza oddziałuje na otoczenie i jakie niesie to za sobą skutki.
Metodyka badań: W artykule przyjęto metodę ilościową oraz technikę badania dokumentów i materiałów w postaci artykułów naukowych, oficjalnych dokumentów i raportów IOC oraz materiałów prasowych. Skupiono się w największym stopniu na omówieniu wpływu edycji igrzysk, które odbyły się pod koniec XX i w XXI w., a szczególnie igrzysk w Rio de Janeiro.
Wyniki: Z treści poniższego artykułu można wnioskować o znacznym wpływie Igrzysk XXXI Olimpiady w Rio de Janeiro na gospodarkę miasta, w pewnym, nieco mniejszym stopniu, także na gospodarkę stanu oraz kraju. Wpływ ten ma wydźwięk zarówno pozytywny jak i negatywny.
Wkład i wartość dodana: Artykuł daje możliwość zapoznania się z różnymi sposobami określania wpływu igrzysk olimpijskich na gospodarkę oraz pozwala spojrzeć na konkretne efekty tego wpływu w szczególności w odniesieniu do igrzysk z końca XX w. i tych, które odbyły się w XXI w. Z artykułu można dowiedzieć się także, w jaki sposób i jak bardzo Igrzyska w Rio de Janeiro oraz ich organizacja wpłynęły krótkookresowo na miasto, stan oraz cały kraj. (abstrakt oryginalny)

The objective of the article is determination of the impact of the Olympic Games on the economy of: host city, region and country. It is crucial to answer the question how this event affects the surroundings and what consequences it brings. In the first part, various approaches to the impact on the aforesaid areas were described. The article adopted a quantitative method and also documents research technique in the form of scientific articles, official IOC documents and reports and also press materials. The article is focused the most at the research of impact of the Games, which took place at the end of 20th and in the 21st century, especially Rio 2016 Olympic Games. This research was presented in relation to expenditures, revenues, tourism and creating jobs. From the content of the article considerable impact of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad on the economy of Rio de Janeiro city, also on the state and country in a lesser degree, can be inferred. This impact is both positive and negative. The article gives an opportunity to become familiar with different approaches of determining of the Olympic Games' impact on the economy and allows to look at the specific effects of this impact, especially in relation to the end of 20th and the 21st century Games. From the article it can be find out how and how much Rio 2016 Olympics and its organization influence on the city, state and country in short term. (original abstract)
