- Artykuł ma na celu ukazanie ewolucji systemu i zakresu wspierania MŚP w Unii Europejskiej oraz jej stanu obecnego. Zwrócono uwagę na zasady wsparcia MŚP obowiązujące we Wspólnocie.
Sector of small and medium sized enterprises (SME) is nowadays targeted by multiple policies and programs aiming at acceleration of its development and growth. Considerable role of SME's has been acknowledged recently. It increased gradually and in high degree it is due to slowly developing support system, which in the beginning consisted of single actions and with laps of time transformed into regular SME's policy with very broad scope of support. Nowadays European Council describes SME's as the backbone of European economy and emphasize their role in competition with the most powerful economies on the world - USA and Japan, This paper portrays current SME's support system in the UE, its scope together with the historic background and the essential rules of helping SME's in European Community. The intention is to spread awareness of benefits and challenges for Polish SME's and Polish government resulting from integration with European Union. . (original abstract) - Accessibility
