Abstract
Autorzy podjęli próbę ustalenia wysokości wskaźników wydajności pracy w przemyśle spożywczym ogółem, w jego branżach i w największych przedsiębiorstwach w Polsce w latach 1996-2000. Porównali otrzymane wskaźniki z ich odpowiednikami w Unii Europejskiej. Zobrazowany przez autorów dystans, dzielący polski przemysł spożywczy od jego odnośników w krajach UE, dzięki dynamice zmian wydajności pracy, ma szansę ulec zmniejszeniu.

In this paper attempts were made so as to present the distance between Polish food industry and similar branches and their equivalents in the EU in view of labour efficiency. The comparative analysis of the years 1996-¡999 has proved that the labour efficiency of Polish food industry was three times lower than the average of the EU. The labour efficiency of Polish food industry in 1999 tended to be at the level of 77.000 euro per one employee (according to PPP). There is than the shortest distance between Poland and Portugal (92 600 euro per one employee) or Greece (116 300 euro per one employee), and the longest distance between Holland (327 200 euro per one employee) or Ireland (319 IOO euro per one employee ). On the other hand there are some food industry companies and branches where the differences were considerably smaller. The dynamic of the changes (38,9%) in efficiency of labour in Polish food industry was higher than in the EU countries (14,4%). It could be concluded then that the work efficiency distance between Poland and the EU will decline in the coming years. (original abstract)
