- Konsekwencją przyjowania reguł gospodarki rynkowej są przeobrażenia warunków funkcjonowania i rozwoju poszczególnych elementów obszaru miejskiego. Rozważania autora dotyczą kolejnych kwestii: wpływu przedsiębiorstw przemysłowych na reorganizację dotychczasowej struktury a w rezultacie powstawanie i rozwój nowego oblicza miasta; modelowania biegunów wzrostu gospodarczego: przemian powiązań miasta z dużym przedsiębiorstwem przemysłowym. Autor zaproponował holistyczną koncepcję relacji elementów charakterystycznych dla struktury regionu miejskiego, która może być wykorzystana w sterowaniu procesem transformacji zarówno aglomeracji miejskiej, jak i układów rwgionalnych.
The contemporary methodology of economic-spatial studies more and more often undertakes an attempt to view the functioning and development of regional structures in a holistic way. In reference to this premises, the present paper, which makes use of the ideas of a theory of systems, makes an attempt to construct a model of functioning of an urban region. Its structure contains the elements which fulfil definite functions such as complementary, standard (regional) and local ones. It was assumed than in the process of functioning, these elements show different types of chain and reversible connections, which in a definite degree influence the changes of their potential and changes in inter-relations. In consequence, they create a new structure of a given urban regional structure. The degree of intensity of functional links occurring between different types of elements is presented by means of matrix flows. It seems that the form of the mmodel makes it possible to look in a holistic way at the processes of transformations which are taking place in the new conditions of market economy, and therefore this form can be used while conctructing a strategy of development, especially of big cities.
