- Artykuł przedstawia osiągnięcia duchowe i materialne Poznania w XIX i na początku XX wieku. Zmiany wprowadzone w mieście w tym czasie były wynikiem wysiłków jego mieszkańców i dobroczyńców, jak również planowanych działań pruskiej administracji i jej decydentów. Te przedsięwzięcia często były motywowane intencją nadania miastu niemieckiego wyglądu, wynikająca z założeń polityki germanizacyjnej jak i z potrzeby modernizacji miasta. Wiek trwające niesnaski pomiędzy polską arystokracją, inteligencją i burżuazją z jednej strony, a reprezentantami pruskiej racji stanu i tzw. Kulturtrager z drugiej, pozostawiły trwały ślad na wizerunku miasta - jego różnych instytucjach i do pewnego stopnia mentalności mieszkańców Poznania.
The article presents the spiritual and material achievements of Poznań in the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century. The changes introduced in the city at that time were the result of efforts of its inhabitants and benefactors, as well as planned activities of the Prussian (German) administration and its authorities. More often than not, these initiatives were actuated by intention to give the city a German appearance, by the Germanization drive, and by the need of implementing modernization measure. A century-long strife between the Polish aristocracy, intelligensia, and bourgeoisie on the one hand, and the presentations of the Prussian raison detat and the so-called Kulturtrager on the other, made a lasting impact on the city's landscape in the form of various institutions, but to an extent also left a trace in the mentality of the inhabitants of Poznań. - Dostępne w
