Abstrakt
Zastosowanie drzew dwumianowych do wyceny opcji rzeczowych umożliwia śledzenie zmian wartości aktywów w odpowiednich okresach czasu i podejmowanie decyzji stosownie do wyników obserwacji.

Real option valuation methods used in firm valuation process allow taking into consideration firm's flexibility and its adaptability to environmental changes. In the binomial tree model it is assumed that stock price changes are composed of a great number of small binomial changes. This assumption was first used by Cox, Ross and Rubinstein. In the method, the time period to expiration date is divided into small periods of time dt. In each period of time At share price can change to one of the two values: Su or Sd. Assuming that u > 1, d < 1, then Su means share price increasing and Sd decreasing. If the probability of share price increasing is equal to p, then the probability of share price decreasing is equal 1- p. In this paper, a binomial model in real option valuation is presented and its application to postponement and giving up option pricing is shown by the example of a hypothetic mining firm. The firm can postpone the mining of raw material for three years. The price of raw material is the source of uncertainty that influences uncertainty of future cash flows. The binomial tree method implementation to real option valuation allows investigation of the assets changing in particular periods of time and enables decisions making depending on the effects of observation. It makes the process of firm valuation more interactive, optional. Its numerical character of calculation allows using computer techniques, which makes the decision processes easier.
