- W artykule wskazano prawne podstawy działalności banku hipotecznego, omówiono jego cechy charakterystyczne z uwzględnieniem cech odróżniających go od banku uniwersalnego. Przedstawiono również podstawowe problemy i trudności towarzyszące procesowi tworzenia tej wyspecjalizowanej bankowej instytucji finansowej w Polsce.
The article discusses a new specialised financial institution in Poland, namely a mortgage bank. The article specifies legal acts which form a basis for the bank operations. An emphasis is put on the fact that the principles developed by legislative authorities and applied both to the bank operations and issue of mortgage bonds offer an opportunity to create a viable and safe (although hardly flexible) mortgage banking system. The article discussis specific features of a mortgage bank seen as a financial institutuon, taking into consideration both its role in the market, key activities, and features which distinguish it from universal bank.
