The article presents one of the main problems of contemporary international financial relations which is the international financial cooperation. This cooperation should be particularly important in formulating a new paradigm of global finance. One of those entities especially involved in international financial cooperation is nowadays the Financial Stability Board (FSB). The aim of the article is to show the genesis of the FSB and its role in the international financial cooperation during the global financial crisis. The Board was created from the transformation of the Financial Stability Forum (functioning since 1999) and its main tasks are: assessment of the vulnerabilities affecting the financial system and identification and oversee action needed to address them, promotion of the coordination and information exchange among authorities responsible for financial Stability, consultancy within the scope of the monitoring and implementing of the best practice and regulatory standards, undertaking joint strategic reviews of the policy development work of the international standard setting, cooperation with the IMF within the scope of the early warning system. It seems that the FSB has significantly contributed to the cooperation and coordination of international activities during the period of the financial and economic crisis. It is important the Board to continue in the future its actions aimed at reforming and strengthening the global financial system continued.
