- "Porty wewnętrzne" jako terminale na zapleczu portów morskich nabierają coraz większego znaczenia. Zainteresowanie nimi spowodowane jest przede wszystkim czynnikami ekonomicznymi, ale istotne są również względy ekologiczne. Wśród wielu beneficjentów terminali, głównym są porty morskie połączone z "portem wewnętrznym" dedykowanym serwisem wahadłowym. Włączenie "suchych portów" w strukturę łańcuchów dostaw przyczynia się do poprawy konkurencyjności portu morskiego (możliwość obsługi większej ilości ładunków, płynna obsługa, niższe koszty, poprawa dostępności), a tym samym może wpływać na konkurencyjność międzynarodowych łańcuchów dostaw.
The concept of the intermodal terminals on port hinterlands, understood here as the terminals with dedicated connection to the seaport by rail or by barge shuttle, is gaining rising attention through the industry. This paper elaborates the determinants of creation of this type of terminals on the ports' hinterland, known for example as inland ports or extended gates, situated on land as well as on the river, and their influence on the supply chain structure. Moreover, some significant possibilities of improving the competitiveness by involving parties, as well as relationship with the social environment have been indicated.
