- Fundusze ETF pojawiły się na rynku kapitałowym w Europie przed dziesięciu laty. Tytuły uczestnictwa pierwszych funduszy tego typu były notowane na giełdach we Frankfurcie (Deutsche Boerse) i Londynie (London Stock Exchange). Obecnie te instrumenty finansowe są obecne na 18 giełdach w 17 państwach europejskich. W Europie funkcjonuje ponad 900 funduszy ETF, a ich łączne aktywa przekraczają 230 mld USD (największe zgromadzono w Niemczech, Francji i w Wielkiej Brytanii). Największymi emitentami funduszy ETF na naszym kontynencie są iShares (BlackRock), Lyxor Asset Management (Societe Generale) oraz db x-trackers (Deutsche Bank). Najwięcej kapitału ulokowano dotychczas w akcyjnych exchange-traded funds (ok. 70% rynku). Najchętniej replikowanymi indeksami są indeksy z grupy MSCI oraz STOXX. (abstrakt oryginalny)
Exchange-traded funds market in Europe celebrated in April 2010 10th anniversary of launching first ETFs on the Deutsche Boerse and on the London Stock Exchange. The greatest development of this segment of European capital market was noted in 2009. Currently ETFs are listed on 18 stock exchanges in 17 European countries. There are more than 900 funds listed on exchanges as primary listings and more than 2700 as total listings. As the end of April 2010 exchange-traded funds' assets exceeded 230 USD billion. & e greatest ETFs markets in Europe are: Deutschland (95,2 USD Bn), France (55,1 USD Bn) and Great Britain (59,8 USD Bn). The most popular types of ETFs are equity ETFs (especially with exposure on: indexes of single European countries, regional indexes of Eurozone countries and indexes of emerging markets) and fixed income ETFs. ETFs replicate indexes created by different institutions - mostly MSCI and STOXX indexes.
