- Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba oceny potencjalnego znaczenia dyrektywy UCITS IV dla polskiego rynku funduszy inwestycyjnych, w tym wskazanie ewentualnych szans i zagrożeń dla tego rynku. W celu dokonania tejże oceny przedstawiona zostanie ogólna charakterystyka polskiego rynku funduszy inwestycyjnych, bowiem obecny stan rozwoju polskiego rynku funduszy inwestycyjnych może mieć wpływ na jego kształt po wdrożeniu przedmiotowej dyrektywy. The UCITS Directive set up a legal framework for the functioning and developing the European investment funds market for a long time. With time, it became evident that the regulations included in UCITS's directive contributed to the considerable fragmentation of the European investment funds market, which influenced the reduction of its competitiveness and effectiveness. For that reason in 2004 a considerable effort was put to change the legal framework. As a result, the new directive called UCITS IV was amended and accepted in 2009. In the present paper the attempt was made to characterize and assess the potential importance of the UCITS IV Directive for the Polish investment funds market, including the indication of possible opportunities and threats to this market. In order to effect this evaluation an overall description of the Polish investment funds market will be described, because the current state of the development of the market can affect its shape after implementing the directive.
