- Social systems are hierarchically organized. They are composed of a part of Nature which is used by the man, and the economic and political planes, on which need-creative and value-creative processes are distinguished. For the latter to be carried on, the system obtains the necessary resources from the natural and social environments. Under condition of a relative abundance of natural resources, a characteristic of the system is expansiveness. Exhaustion of resources forces the system to autocreation. If the autocreation is a result of changes in the natural environment, it is necessary to adjust the whole economic plane to the natural environment. The influence of the social environment is thus losing its strength on economic plane which makes it necessary for the latter to be partly adjusted to the social environment. The weakest is the influence on political plane. Social and natural environments are responsible for the constraints on functioning of the social system, but they do not strictly determine the development process of the latter. It is the system itself which decides on the choice of one of the many possible ways of development. (original abstract)
