- The contributors to this volume, coordinated by Prof. Gluchman, are approaching the subject matter of ethics in such a way as to review some of the significant stands on the issue in the history of Slovak culture; the discussion is broader than this, since the authors analyze a period - second half of the 19th century and first half of the 20th - when the context of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and the national sensibilities directly connected to a so-called "magyarization" phenomenon, lead to a discourse that touches the matter of national identity more often than is accustomed nowadays. Nevertheless, despite the tough speech on national identity (suggesting the frustration produced by artificial political conglomerates, such as the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, which threatened the cultural identity of their national components), Vasil Gluchman explains that these are the circumstances in which one should understand the approach of morality in Slovakia.(fragment of text)
