- The paper sets out to explore the relationship between two key economic concepts. To begin with, the notion of economic ownership is examined, leading to a distinction of two basic approaches. A case is made for a rent-based perspective on ownership and against its treatment as control. It is from this vantage point that in the second part of the paper a number of classic theories of capital are analysed, as based on Frank Fetter's review article.(original abstract)
