- Przystępując do opracowania tak sformułowanego tematu należy już na wstępie sprecyzować zakres zagadnień które zostaną przedstawione. Niniejsze opracowanie, w myśl założonych celów, będzie zawierać przede wszystkim próbę charakterystyki oferowanej podaży usług spedycyjnych na terenie Warszawy. Jest to próba charakterystyki, gdyż nigdy dotychczas nie podejmowano jakichkolwiek badań dotyczących usług spedycyjnych. Dlatego wynikają obawy, jak dalece będzie można przedstawić obecną sytuację w tym zakresie. Obawy te są wywołane wieloma wątpliwościami zarówno co do przyjętych założeń metodologicznych i problemów teoretycznych, takich jak: interpretacja pojęcia spedycji, spedytora, usługi spedycyjnej i kryteriów klasyfikacyjnych oraz samej klasyfikacji spedycji, jak i kompleksowości zebranych informacji źródłowych. Podkreślić należy, iż w tym opracowaniu ograniczono się z konieczności jedynie do opisu sfery podażowej. To ograniczenie wynika z braku jakiegokolwiek udokumentowanego rozpoznania rozmiarów i struktury popytu na usługi spedycyjne.
Present work is the first attempt of this kind to evaluate the development of forwarding in the Warsaw agglomeration. Due to the difficulties of both, methodological and practical natures in obtaining reliable data concerning the level of demand for forwarding services, there has been applied the method of description and characterization of the demand at the dispatching market. Forwarding in Warsaw is carried out by some tens of enterprises, majority of which are transport firms, providing, apart from transport services, complementary dispatching services. In the work, there have been presented articles and spatial ranges, assortment and activity ranges of different organizations. There were also made the attempts to present all really occuring variants and forms of organization, and the activity which is conducted. Therefore, there have been described large transport-dispatching enterprises and forwarding firms /home and international forwarding agents/ and firms of special /branch/ transport, cooperative organizations and private enterprises, owing to which relatively full image of subject structure of dispatching services has been achieved. There have also been drawn /subjective and intuitive to a greater extent/ conclusions concerning inadequate development of forwarding in Warsaw, as compared with the real and potential needs in this respect. In the work there have tackled some theoretical problems of forwarding, the ones, that seem to be of intrinsic significance for the functioning of forwarding enterprises.
