Investment projects can be quite large-scale and local. Form and content of investment projects may diverse very much - from the plan of establishment a new company to assess the feasibility of real estate purchasing. Most scientists, businessmen and public figures understand the essence of the investment project exactly in such a way. We will try to reflect the investment project of completely different meaning that has extremely important significance for each individual, company, local community and the state in general. The question is about higher education. In the context of the economy based on knowledge, higher education can help national and local economies to get the basis for a technologically advanced society. Interest in the role of higher education in the development of national and regional economies is not new, but it has increased in recent years. This is due to technological revolutions and the expansion of the knowledge economy that creates and transforms knowledge into innovation. Economic efficiency, social and individual benefits of investment in higher education were proved. The role of higher education in the development of the economy of the country and certain regions was considered. Also, short-term benefits of investments in higher education in the form of growth of population employment and benefits in long-term prospects, manifested in increasing professionalism and competence and consequently, an increase of workers' income were considered.(fragment of text)
