- The increase in wood waste prices creates an enormous chance for enhancing the efficiency of sawmills which often operate on the verge of profitability. Processed wood waste represents a higher value hence the sawmills should consider the possibilities of refining wood waste they create. Deciding to process wood waste into: pellet, wooden briquettes or garden bark results in incurring substantial investment costs necessary for the purchase of the equipment vital for their production. Therefore, it is essential the producer to carry out a detailed strategic analysis of the profitability level of such investment, after having estimated the amount of raw material available as well as the feasible sales of a given product. The article contains the review of the most important methods of investment appraisal indicating the most useful ones when evaluating the profitability of the projects aiming at utilizing wood waste(original abstract)
