The aim of the paper is the analysis of geographical environment resources of the Słonne Mountains Landscape Park making up the potential for tourist activities development. The area possesses rich landscape values on the basis of which tourism can be successfully developed. Moreover, the article shows variety of landscape values of small often unknown corners of the country superior to famous places. It is an attempt to present the area whose geographical environment resources can become an alternative to domestic and foreign tourist destinations. The variety of recreation forms and kinds of adventure tourism practised on a particular area are inseparably connected with natural environment values used for recreational needs. Areas suitable for the development of tourist forms of recreation are usually situated in the vicinity of protected grounds. The development of tourism in these regions is and has to be limited not only by natural conditions but also by the archievement of aims which these areas serve. Tourism is part of economy which has enabled economic development of many regions. Such areas are usually characterised by low inhabitants income and growing unemployment. The area discussed in the article may be an example of state economic changes causing negative phenomena in socio-economic sphere. It seems that the possibilities of looking for the improvement of living conditions in trade have been exhausted and the market has been repleted by such services. Owing to constant deterioration of financial situation of the inhabitants in this region suitable activities stimulating people to seek their own ways of earning should be undertaken, for example adapting farms or old family houses in the country tourist needs. After modernization works these buildings can be used as a base for the development of tourist activities. The idea of encouraging people to act in tourism or agro-tourism should become a common aim for both local authorities and inhabitants. In order to support tourism industry such financial instruments of regional policy as grants from European funds or loans from the European Investment Bank can be used. One of the most important ones helping in eliminating regional disproportions is the structural fund: European Fund of Regional Development. The funds are mainly used to cover the cost of constructing and extending infrastructure devices and using endogenic potention of regions as tourist natural and cultural values. It is worth mentioning that tourism develops successfully not only in well known resorts of Poland but also in their surroundings presenting many tourist attractions. The promotion of offered tourist services and landscape values is also very crucial. Moreover, the location of the area on the borderland may become an important factor in economic development. Nevertheless, certain conditions such as infrastructure must be fulfilled. There are serious lacks and imperfection in tourist base. Summing up, it should be stated that positive attitude of local people towards such forms of economic activities is a necessary condition of successful tourism in this part of Poland.
